"Social Justice and Missions".... They were words I thought only applied to adults who had grey hair and smelled of musty mothballs, definitely not to a 16-year-old boy with dreams of being a recording artist. After all, what difference could a 16-year-old really make in the world???
I was a regular-thinking student. That was until I came face to face with poverty and injustice on my first mission trip to Zambia (Africa). At 16, I discovered that I had an education that far exceeded 85% of the entire world; I lived in a house unlike millions of people; and that my small allowance was more than most people in the world earn from a full week of work.
I returned a changed young man, wanting to make a difference! I began sponsoring children, volunteering at the local homeless shelter, starting a center for disadvantaged teens, traveling on summer breaks around the world to help the impoverished receive an education, food, clothing and open-access to medicine.... all while I continued through school and college.
Today, continuing in my passion to inspire youth and motivate them to play an active role in world issues, I use my music and influence as a recording artist to deliver high-energy presentations in schools throughout the USA and Australia. Working with well-known organizations such as Compassion International, The ONE Campaign and International Christian Youthworks, my 45-minute school assemblies are stacked with music, video, stories and plenty of crowd participation. All of this allows me to present these issues to students and provide opportunities for students to get active now, change their world and make an impact.
"We need more artists with the heart, passion, sincerity and work ethic that Lucas Parry has. God has blessed Lucas not only vocally but also with a talent for doing music ministry with a sincerity of spirit and heart to reach the nations for Gods kingdom." Eric Nordhoff - Go Global Entertainment LLC, Franklin TN.
"Lucas Parry's visit to Somerville Baptist college challenged students to not only think about their relationship with God, but to also think about their world and inspire them to aim to make a difference. As Principal, I was thrilled to see students get excited about mission, about tangibly changing another's world for the better and about the limitless potential of their own lives." Tracey Holmes - Principal, Somerville Baptist College
"Words cannot express my appreciation for the missionary vision Lucas was able to present to our students and the challenge to align themselves with God's purpose and plan for our world. His emphasis on Christian social action is in stark contrast to the "me me" message so often communicated to young people today. We look forward to having him back again." Kim Palmer - Director of Christian Studies - Kingsway Christian College
"Lucas Parry is a gifted performer who really knows how to connect with students. His music is energetic and heartfelt; yet the most impressive thing about Lucas was the way he shared the message of Jesus in such a down-to-earth manner, showing kids how they can really make a difference in the world. I couldn't commend a better person to share with young people the love Jesus has for all humanity." Grant Grosser - Deputy Principal, Lake Joondalup Baptist College
"Lucas presents a clear message that easily relates to each of the different age groups. I would recommend him to any principal." Matt Drennan, Acting Principal - Green Point Christian College
